Shanghai Zoo

This comprehensive zoo has the four main functions of entertainment, disseminating knowledge about animals, research into science and technology, and conservation of wild animals.
The zoo currently houses over 7,000 animals of 600 different species, including representative animals from regions all over the world, such as the gorilla, the giraffe, the polar bear, and the kangaroo, in addition to animals originating in China such as the giant panda, the golden snub-nosed monkey (the model for the monkey king in "Journey to the West"), and the south China tiger
Within the zoo, 100,000 trees of 600 different species are cultivated, united with the animals' living environments.
